Perante o Corpo / The body
“Vós sois a sal da Terra; e se o sal for insípido, com que se há de salgar?” - JESUS. – Mateus, 5: 13.
“Torturar e martirizar, voluntariamente, o vosso corpo é contrariar a lei de Deus que vos dá meios de a sustentar e fortalecer. Enfraquecê-lo sem necessidade é um verdadeiro suicídio. Usai, mas não abuseis, tal a lei. Cap. 5, 26.
Frequentemente atribuis ao corpo as atitudes menos felizes que te induzem à queda moral e, por vezes, diligencias enfraquecê-lo ou flagelá-lo, a pretexto de evitar tentações.
Isso porém, seria o mesmo que espancar o automóvel porque o motorista dementado se dispusesse a utilizá-lo num crime, culpando-se a máquina pelos desvios do condutor.
Muitos relacionam as doenças que infelicitam o corpo, quase todas por desídia do próprio homem, olvidando, contudo, que todos os patrimônios visíveis da Humanidade, na Terra, foram levantados através dele.
Sócrates legou-nos ensinamentos filosóficos de absoluta originalidade, mas não conseguiria articulá-los sem o auxílio da boca.
Miguel Angel plasmou obras-primas, imortalizando o próprio nome, entretanto, não lograria concretizá-las sem o uso dos braços.
Desde Colombo, arriscando-se ao grande oceano, para descortinar terras novas, aos astronautas dos tempos modernos, que se lançam arrojadamente no espaço cósmico, é com os implementos físicos que se dirigem os engenhos de condução.
Da prensa de Gutenberg às rotativas de hoje, ninguém compõe uma página sem que as mãos funcionem ativas.
Do alfinete ao transatlântico e do alfabeto a universidade, no planeta terrestre, tudo, efetivamente, é levado a efeito pelo espírito, mas por intermédio do corpo. E, sem dúvida, que pensamentos e planos sublimes, ainda agora, fulguram em torno dos homens, com respeito à grandeza das civilizações do porvir, contudo, essas ideias gloriosas estão para a realidade humana, assim como a sinfonia na pauta está para a música no instrumento. Do ponto de vista físico, é necessário que a inteligência lhes dê o curso necessário e a devida interpretação.
És um espírito eterno, em serviço temporário no mundo. O corpo é teu refúgio e teu bastão, teu vaso e tua veste, tua pena e teu buril, tua harpa e tua enxada.
Abençoa, pois, o teu corpo e ampara-lhe as energias para que ele te abençoe e te ampare, no desempenho de tua própria missão.

You often attribute to the body the less happy attitudes that lead you to moral downfall, and sometimes you try to weaken it or scourge it, under the pretext of avoiding temptations.
This, however, would be the same as beating the car because the demented driver was willing to use it in a crime, blaming the machine for the driver's deviations.
Many relate to the diseases that afflict the body, almost all of them due to the negligence of man himself, forgetting, however, that all the visible patrimonies of Humanity, on Earth, were raised through him.
Socrates bequeathed us philosophical teachings of absolute originality, but he would not have been able to articulate them without the help of his mouth.

You are an eternal spirit, on temporary service in the world. The body is your refuge and your staff, your vessel and your garment, your pen and your chisel, your harp and your hoe.
