Não passes pelo mundo sem acrescentar o teu tijolo à magnífica construção do bem. 

Não permitas que os teus dias se escoem sem que algo faças de útil em benefício do próximo. 

Não deixes que a tua oportunidade de servir se perca no grande vazio das horas inúteis. 

Não consintas em viver exclusivamente para os interesses pessoais. 

Não adotes o comodismo por norma de conduta, refletindo que Jesus permanece no madeiro, braços abertos, à nossa espera. 

Enquanto tens forças para caminhar, sai de ti mesmo ao encontro daqueles que choram à margem da estrada…  

Atende-os, como se fossem eles – e realmente o são – vida de tua própria vida. 

Liberta-te dos pesados grilhões da indiferença!

Sê a fonte de água pura para os sedentos, a côdea de pão para os famintos, a veste aconchegante para os que sentem frio, o bálsamo para as feridas que sangram, a mão amiga para os que tropeçam, o consolo para os que sofrem.... 

Recordando a palavra do Mestre: “Eu vos digo em verdade, quantas vezes o fizestes com relação a um desses mais pequenos de meus irmãos, foi a mim que fizeste”, apressa-te no cumprimento do dever, porquanto, todas as vezes que te furtares à prática do bem, estarás, em essência, negando auxílio Àquele a quem tudo devemos.

On the side of the road

Do not pass through the world without adding your brick to the magnificent construction of good.

Don't let your days go by without doing something useful for the benefit of others.

Don't let your opportunity to serve be lost in the great emptiness of useless hours.

Do not consent to live exclusively for personal interests.

Do not adopt self-indulgence as a rule of conduct, reflecting that Jesus remains on the tree, arms open, waiting for us.

While you have the strength to walk, go out of yourself to meet those who cry on the side of the road...

Answer them, as if they were – and they really are – the life of your own life.

Free yourself from the heavy shackles of indifference!

Be the source of pure water for the thirsty, the crust of bread for the hungry, the warm garment for the cold, the balm for the bleeding wounds, the helping hand for those who stumble, the comfort for those who suffer. ...

Remembering the word of the Master: “I tell you the truth, as often as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me”, make haste in the fulfillment of your duty, because every time you steal from the practice of good, you will be, in essence, denying help to the One to whom we owe everything.
