Práticas estranhas / Strange practices
Muitos, companheiros, sob a alegação de que todas as religiões são boas e respeitáveis, julgam que as tarefas espíritas nada perdem por aceitar a enxertia de práticas estranhas à simplicidade que lhes vige na base, lisonjeando indebitamente situações e personalidades humanas, supostas capazes de beneficiar as construções doutrinárias do Espiritismo.
No entanto, examinemos, sem parcialidade, a expressão contraditória de semelhante atitude, analisando-a, na lógica da vida.
Criaturas de todas as plagas do Universo são filhas do Criador e chegarão, um dia, à perfeição integral. Mas, no passo evolutivo em que nos achamos, não nos é lícito estar com todas, conquanto respeitemos a todas, de vez que inúmeras se encontram em experiências diametralmente opostas aos objetivos que nos propomos alcançar.
Não existem caminhos que não sejam viáveis e todos podem conduzir a determinado ponto do mundo. Contudo, somente os viajores irresponsáveis escolherão perlustrar atalhos perigosos e desfiladeiros obscuros, espinheiros e charcos, no dédalo de aventuras marginais, ao longo da estrada justa.
Indiscriminadamente, os produtos expostos num mercado são úteis. Mas sob a desculpa do acatamento que se deve a todos, não nos cabe comer de tudo, sem a mínima noção de higiene e sem qualquer consideração para com a própria saúde.
Águas de qualquer procedência liquidam a sede. No entanto, com a desculpa de que todas são valiosas, não é aconselhável se beba qualquer uma, sem qualquer preocupação de limpeza, a menos que a pessoa esteja nas vascas da sofreguidão, ameaçada de morte pelo deserto.
Sabemos que a legislação humana obtida à custa de sofrimento estabelece a segregação dos irmãos delinquentes para o trabalho reeducativo; sustenta a polícia rodoviária para garantir a ordem da passagem correta; mantém fiscalização adequada para o devido asseio nos recursos destinados à alimentação pública e cria agentes de filtragem para que as fontes não se façam veículos de endemias e outras calamidades que arrasariam populações indefesas.
Reflitamos nisso e compreenderemos que assegurar a simplicidade dos princípios espíritas, nas casas doutrinárias, para que as suas atividades atinjam a meta da libertação espiritual da Humanidade não é fanatismo e nem rigorismo de espécie alguma, porquanto, agir de outro modo seria o mesmo que devolver um mapa luminoso ao labirinto das sombras, após séculos de esforço e sacrifício para obtê-lo, como se também, a pretexto de fraternidade, fôssemos obrigados a desertar do lar para residir nas penitenciárias; a deixar o caminho certo para seguir pelo cipoal; a largar o prato saudável para ingerir a refeição deteriorada e desprezar a água potável por líquidos de salubridade suspeita.
Em Doutrina Espírita, pois, seja compreensível afirmar que é certo respeitar tudo e beneficiar sem complicar a cada um de nossos irmãos, onde quer que se encontrem, mas não podemos aceitar tudo e nem abraçar tudo, a fim de podermos estar certos.

Strange practices
Many, comrades, under the allegation that all religions are good and respectable, believe that spiritist tasks lose nothing by accepting the grafting of practices that are foreign to the simplicity that prevails at their base, unduly flattering human situations and personalities, supposedly capable of benefiting the doctrinal constructions of Spiritism.However, let us examine, without partiality, the contradictory expression of such an attitude, analyzing it, in the logic of life.
Creatures from all parts of the Universe are daughters of the Creator and will one day reach full perfection. But, in the evolutionary step in which we find ourselves, it is not permissible for us to be with everyone, as long as we respect them all, since countless are in experiences diametrically opposed to the objectives we propose to achieve.
There are no paths that are not viable and all can lead to a certain point in the world. However, only irresponsible travelers will choose to wander dangerous shortcuts and obscure gorges, brambles and swamps, in the maze of marginal adventures, along the fair road.
Indiscriminately, products displayed in a market are useful. But under the excuse of the respect that is owed to everyone, it is not up to us to eat everything, without the slightest notion of hygiene and without any consideration for our own health.
Water from any source quenches thirst. However, with the excuse that they are all valuable, it is not advisable to drink any of them, without any concern for cleanliness, unless the person is in the throes of greed, threatened with death by the desert.
We know that human legislation obtained at the cost of suffering establishes the segregation of delinquent brothers for reeducation work; supports the road police to ensure the order of the correct passage; maintains adequate supervision for the proper cleanliness of resources destined for public food and creates filtering agents so that sources do not become vehicles for endemic diseases and other calamities that would devastate defenseless populations.
Let us reflect on this and we will understand that ensuring the simplicity of spiritist principles, in doctrinal houses, so that their activities reach the goal of the spiritual liberation of Humanity is not fanaticism or rigor of any kind, since to act otherwise would be the same as returning a luminous map to the labyrinth of shadows, after centuries of effort and sacrifice to obtain it, as if, also, under the pretext of fraternity, we were forced to desert home to reside in penitentiaries; to leave the right path to go through the cipoal; to leave the healthy plate to eat the spoiled meal and to despise drinking water for liquids of suspicious health.
In Spiritist Doctrine, therefore, it is understandable to say that it is right to respect everything and benefit without complicating each one of our brothers, wherever they are, but we cannot accept everything or embrace everything, in order to be sure.
