Estudo na parábola
Comentávamos a necessidade da divulgação da Doutrina Espírita, quando o rabi Zoar bem Ozias, distinto orientador israelita, hoje consagrado às verdades do Evangelho no Mundo Espiritual, pediu licença a fim de parafrasear a parábola dos talentos, contada por Jesus, e falou, simples:
—Meus amigos, o Senhor da Terra, partindo, em caráter temporário, para fora do mundo, chamou três dos seus servos e, considerando a capacidade de cada um, confiou-lhes alguns dos seus próprios bens, a título de empréstimo, participando-lhes que os reencontraria, mais tarde, na Vida Superior…
—Ao primeiro transmitiu o dinheiro, o Poder, o Conforto, a Habilidade e o Prestígio; ao segundo concedeu a Inteligência e a Autoridade e ao terceiro entregou o Conhecimento Espírita.
Depois de longo tempo, os três servidores, assustados e vacilantes, compareceram diante do Senhor para as contas necessárias.
O primeiro avançou e disse:
—Senhor, cometi muitos disparates e não consegui realizar-te a vontade, que determina o bem para todos os teus súditos, mas, com os cinco talentos que me puseste nas mãos, comecei a cultivar, pelo menos com pequeninos resultados, outros cinco, que são o Trabalho, o Progresso, a Amizade, a Esperança e a Gratidão, em alguns dos companheiros que ficaram no mundo… Perdoa-me, Ó divino Amigo, se não pude fazer mais!…
O Senhor respondeu tranquilo:
—Bem está, servo fiel, pois não erraste por intenção… Volta ao campo terrestre e reinicia a obra interrompida, renascendo sob o amparo das afeições que ajuntaste.
Veio o segundo e alegou:
—Senhor, digna-te desculpar-me a incapacidade… Não te pude compreender claramente os desígnios que preceituam a felicidade igual pra todas as criaturas e perpetrei lastimáveis enganos… ainda assim, mobilizei os dois valores que me deste e, com eles, angariei outros dois que são a Cultura e a Experiência para muitos dos irmãos que permanecem na retaguarda…
O excelso Benfeitor replicou, satisfeito:
—Bem está, servo fiel, pois não erraste por intenção… Volta ao campo terrestre e reinicia a obra interrompida, renascendo sob o amparo das afeições que ajuntaste.
O terceiro adiantou-se e explicou:
—Senhor, devolvo-te o Conhecimento Espírita, intocado e puro, qual o recebi de tua munificência… O Conhecimento Espírita é luz, Senhor, e, com ele, aprendi que a tua Lei é dura demais, atribuindo a cada um conforme as próprias obras. De que modo usar uma lâmpada assim, brilhante e viva, se os homens na Terra estão divididos por pesadelos de inveja e ciúme, crueldade e ilusão? Como empregar o clarão de tua verdade sem ferir ou incomodar? E como incomodar ou ferir, sem trazer deploráveis consequências para mim próprio? Sabes que a Verdade, entre os homens, cria problemas onde aparece… Em vista disso, tive medo de tua Lei e julguei como sendo a medida mais razoável para mim o acomodar-me com o sossego de minha casa… Assim pensando, ocultei o dom que me recomendaste aplicar e restituo-te semelhante riqueza, sem o mínimo toque de minha parte!…
O Sublime Credor, porém, entre austero e triste, ordenou que o tesouro do conhecimento Espírita lhe fosse arrancado e entregue, de imediato, aos dois colaboradores diligentes que se encaminhariam para a Terra, de novo, declarando, incisivo:
—Servo infiel, não existe para a tua negligência alternativa senão a de recomeçares toda a tua obra pelos mais obscuros entraves do princípio…
—Senhor!… Senhor!… Chorou o servo displicente. – Onde a tua equidade? Deste aos meus companheiros o dinheiro, o Poder, o Conforto, a Habilidade, O Prestígio, a
Inteligência e a Autoridade, e a mim concedestes tão-só o conhecimento Espírita… Como fazes cair sobre mim todo o peso de tua severidade?
O Senhor, entretanto, explicou brandamente:
—Não desconheces que te atribuí a luz da Verdade como sendo o bem maior de todos. Se ambos os teus companheiros não acertaram em tudo, é que lhes faltava o discernimento que lhes podias ter ministrado, através de corrigir amando e trabalhar instruindo…
Escondendo a riqueza que te emprestei, não só te perdeste pelo temor de sofrer e auxiliar, como também prejudicaste a obra deficitária de teus irmãos, cujos dias no mundo teriam alcançado maior rendimento no Bem Eterno, se houvessem recebido o quinhão de amor e serviço, humildade e paciência que lhe negaste!…
—Senhor!… Senhor!… porquê? – Soluçou o infeliz – porque tamanho rigor, se a tua Lei é de Misericórdia e Justiça?
Então os assessores do Senhor conduziram o servo desleal para as sombras do recomeço, esclarecendo a ele que a Lei, realmente, é disciplina de Misericórdia e Justiça, mas com uma diferença: para os ignorantes do dever, a Justiça chega pelo alvará da Misericórdia; mas, para as criaturas conscientes das próprias obrigações, a Misericórdia chega pelo cárcere da Justiça.

Study in the parable
We were commenting on the need to spread the Spiritist Doctrine, when Rabbi Zoar ben Ozias, a distinguished Israeli advisor, today devoted to the truths of the Gospel in the Spiritual World, asked permission to paraphrase the parable of the talents, told by Jesus, and said, simply:
—My friends, the Lord of the Earth, departing, on a temporary basis, out of the world, called three of his servants, and, considering the ability of each, entrusted to them some of his own goods, by way of loan, participating in them. them that I would meet them again later in the Higher Life...
—To the first he transmitted the money, the Power, the Comfort, the Ability and the Prestige; to the second he granted Intelligence and Authority and to the third he gave the Spiritist Knowledge.
After a long time, the three servants, frightened and vacillating, appeared before the Lord for the necessary accounts.
The first came forward and said:
—Lord, I have committed many follies and have not been able to fulfill your will, which determines the good for all your subjects, but with the five talents you put in my hands, I began to cultivate, at least with small results, another five, which are Work, Progress, Friendship, Hope and Gratitude, in some of the companions who stayed in the world... Forgive me, O divine Friend, if I couldn't do more!...
The Lord replied calmly:
—Well done, faithful servant, because you did not err by intention… Return to the earthly field and restart the interrupted work, being reborn under the protection of the affections that you gathered.
The second came and claimed:
—Sir, you deign to forgive me for my incapacity... I could not clearly understand the designs that prescribe equal happiness for all creatures and I perpetrated regrettable mistakes... even so, I mobilized the two values you gave me and, with them, I raised others. two who are Culture and Experience for many of the brothers who remain behind…
The exalted Benefactor replied, satisfied:
—Well done, faithful servant, because you did not err by intention… Return to the earthly field and restart the interrupted work, being reborn under the protection of the affections that you gathered.
The third came forward and explained:
—Lord, I give you back the Spiritist Knowledge, untouched and pure, which I received from your munificence... The Spiritist Knowledge is light, Lord, and with it I learned that your Law is too hard, attributing to each one according to their own construction. How to use a lamp like that, bright and alive, if men on Earth are torn by nightmares of envy and jealousy, cruelty and illusion? How to use the brightness of your truth without hurting or disturbing? And how to bother or hurt, without bringing deplorable consequences for myself? You know that the Truth, among men, creates problems where it appears... In view of this, I was afraid of your Law and I judged it to be the most reasonable measure for me to settle in the peace of my house... that you recommended me to apply and I will give you back such wealth, without the slightest touch on my part!…
The Sublime Creditor, however, between austere and sad, ordered that the treasure of Spiritist knowledge be taken from him and immediately handed over to the two diligent collaborators who would go to Earth, again, declaring, incisively:
—Unfaithful servant, there is no alternative for your negligence but to start all over your work again through the darkest obstacles of the beginning...
—Lord!… Lord!… cried the careless servant. – Where is your equity? You gave my companions the Money, the Power, the Comfort, the Skill, the Prestige, the
Intelligence and Authority, and you only granted me the Spiritist knowledge… How do you make all the weight of your severity fall on me?
The Lord, however, softly explained:
—You are not unaware that I have attributed the light of Truth to you as being the greatest good of all. If both your companions didn't get everything right, it's because they lacked the discernment that you could have given them, through correcting loving and working instructing...
Hiding the wealth I lent you, you not only lost yourself through fear of suffering and helping, but you also harmed the deficient work of your brothers, whose days in the world would have achieved greater yield in the Eternal Good, if they had received their share of love and service, humility and patience which thou hast denied him!…
—Sir!…Sir!…why? – Sobbing the unfortunate – why such rigor, if your Law is of Mercy and Justice?
Then the Lord's advisors led the disloyal servant to the shadows of the new beginning, clarifying to him that the Law, really, is a discipline of Mercy and Justice, but with a difference: for those ignorant of duty, Justice arrives by the charter of Mercy; but, for creatures aware of their own obligations, Mercy arrives through the prison of Justice.
